+1 Upgrade Per Kill Upgrades & Armor Tiers
Last updated:

In +1 Upgrade Per Kill, every kill moves your gear one step up the ladder, and every death sends you back to zero. Here's the whole ladder.

The upgrade ladder
| # | Tier | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Leather | Starting tier. The first upgrades add Leather pieces (confirmed from footage). |
| 2 | Copper | to be verified |
| 3 | Iron | to be verified |
| 4 | Full Diamond | Has its own "Fastest Diamond" leaderboard |
| 5 | Ruby | to be verified |
| 6 | Shadow | to be verified |
| 7 | Prism | to be verified |
| 8 | MAXED | Final step |
How many upgrades are there?
The HUD reads UPGRADE 2/34, so there are 34 steps in total. The daily quest "Reach Full Leather" suggests each tier is built up piece by piece (helmet, chestplate, leggings, boots) before the next tier begins. Weapon upgrades are also likely part of the 34. The exact breakdown is to be verified.

What happens when you die
You go back to zero, unless you use a Gear Saver. The Head Start perk lets you spawn with some Leather pieces already on, at no perk-slot cost.
How to climb faster
- Hunt players who are low on hearts. The Seer class shows enemy hearts.
- Kill high-Upgrade players for bonus XP and their bounty.
- Server Boosts raise Gold and XP, but not upgrades.
- Eat Golden Apples to reset fights in your favour.
